The #1 Thing You Must Do.
You might say that the first thing you have to do in building an Online Business is learn how to build a list. Or, maybe it is to learn how to construct a squeeze page. Nope, I’ve got to find out how to make a web page.
Well, after a lot of thought, I think that the #1 thing to have is… a DREAM.
Without a Dream, You have no Vision for what You want to accomplish in Building Your Online Business.
Without a Dream, You have nothing with which to set a Goal.
Without a Dream, You have nothing to work towards. You will just flounder around and never accomplish anything. (Translate into: You will make no money.)
Thus the Building of Your Online Business begins with your Dream.
I know you have one. We all have some kind of Dream. That’s why people gamble, or play the lottery. They dream of striking it rich. They believe that winning big money will take care of all of their problems.
Of course, that is not necessarily true. Suddenly having financial freedom usually creates another set of problems.
However, it is necessary to have a Dream to begin something. Let me share my Dream with you.
I have been married to the lovely Tanya for 3 years. She is from the Ukraine and arrived in the USA in July of 2005. We live in the Portland, Oregon, area. And where she is from in the Ukraine is similar in climate to where we live.
However, neither one of us like the cold, wet winters of the Pacific Northwest. Thus my Dream.
Tanya and I want to live, from about the middle of November to the end of February, in the Dominican Republic. That is where I first met Tanya as I had to meet her outside of the USA before she came here on a fiance visa. And the really neat part about it is that I can do my Online Business while living there.
I do not know what your Dream is. I just know that you must have one to be successful. Maybe you want buy a bigger home. Perhaps you want to have time to watch your children grow up. Or maybe you want that really nice car.
Whatever it is, I encourage you to take 15 to 30 minutes of quiet time with a pen and pad of paper. Just sit and let your mind wonder. Write down whatever thoughts you get.
For some, it might be that you want to keep a pen and a pad of paper on the night stand by your bed. I know, that for me, I get some of my most creative thoughts in that space of time be being awake and going to sleep. And the only way I seem to be able to get to sleep when those thoughts start getting into my head is to get up and write them down.
Now take that list you have made and go back and put them in some order of priority. You will soon come to what is the most important. And that is your Dream.
It is OK to have several items of high priority. You may have 3 to 5 items as your most important items. However, the #1 item is your Dream. In fulfilling that #1 item, you will also likely fulfill the other items.

This seems like such a no brainer, but I know it is absolutely the No.1 thing for me. If I did not have the same sort of dream, different location, I would not be trying so hard to do my business.

Bill,
You are so on target. Without the dream and making a list of what you need to do to accomplish your dream…and, If you don’t have dreams and goals, then you will have nothing.
But following your advice and discovering your dream and setting goals…by setting down and making a list. The list is so important in order to accomplish the things most important to you.
Keep the Blog going and I will return to see what else you are offering.
Thanks again. We all have to start someplace…and setting goals is the only place to start.

Hello Coach:
I too do have a dream. Everyday, just to stay on track I read what I have written down. This helps to keep me focus.

This is so right-on. Most of my life I have joked that I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. But it is no joke. I’m middle-aged and I still don’t know.
The only dream I’ve ever had was sailing around the world in my own boat. I got the boat okay, but after six months of sailing, I found I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much as I’d thought I would.
Now I’m searching for a new dream and until I find one, I’m just spinning my wheels going nowhere.
I have a few short-term and mid-term goals, but they aren’t tied to a dream, so it is hard to get passionate about them.

You are so right, Bill. It all starts with the mindset and the dreams that must become something tangible. Thank you for simplifying it. I really am enjoying your emails.
